WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT WUSHU? :
  • I love how Wushu is a performing art. It is a martial art which combines the beauty of fluid movements with the intensity of more aggressive ones.
WHY DO YOU COMPETE IN THE MARTIAL ARTS?

I've been doing this sport since the age of 5 (13 years) and it only made sense to start competing.  After your first competition, it's hard to stop.  The thrill that comes with competing is a sensation you cannot get doing anything else.  As much as training for national and world level competitions is hard and stressful, the nervous anticipation the day of competition is so invigorating.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT WUSHU? :
I love how Wushu is a performing art. It is a martial art which combines the beauty of fluid movements with the intensity of more aggressive ones.
WHAT ARE YOUR FUTURE GOALS IN WUSHU AND IN LIFE? :
I will keep competing wushu for a few more years.  As for life, I do not know yet. I am currently studying at McMaster University.
ANY WORDS OF ADVICE OR ENCOURAGEMENT TO PEOPLE INTERESTED IN WUSHU?

Keep at it. If you find yourself bored at the beginning, it does not mean you do not like the sport.  Like most sports, you have to learn the basic movements before going into the more difficult acrobatic movements and choreography. It took me probably 6 years of training before getting to learn the more interesting movements and forms!
