WushuOntario’s Coach Development Program is the first phase of initiation towards a national wushu coaching program that will adhere to the standards of the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) as set out by the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC).
Working with the Provincial/Territorial Wushu Organizations, WushuCanada mandates that any individual coaching in a WushuCanada Level II member club must be a trained or certified coach under the NCCP for the Wushu discipline(s) in which they are coaching. Along with the development and delivery of the NCCP to coaches throughout the country, WushuCanada works closely with the Provincial/Territorial Wushu Organizations (who are responsible for hosting and scheduling NCCP courses) to ensure that our member clubs continue to provide sound training programs in a safe learning environment that meet the needs of all wushu (martial art) participants.

WushuOntario along with members of the WushuCanada technical committee have taken the leadership role in developing the specific training and certification levels required for coaches working with provincial/territorial recreational and competitive level programming.
For more information about the specific training and certification levels required for coaches working with national level athletes, please refer to WushuCanada’s respective Technical Rules & Regulations as currently specified by the International Wushu Federation.

NCCP Training and WushuOntario Certification

WushuCanada will move towards offering a NCCP in Taolu, Sanda and Traditional Wushu. Presently, our NCCP is under development using both a knowledge (technical requirements) and competency (coaching methodology) based training approach. As this development is ongoing, coaches will begin focus with the competency components and equate their current knowledge with the standard technical requirements as indicated in the program.

Other Training and Certification

All wushu coaches are required to complete the standard First Aid Clinic, which trains coaches to deal with basic injury prevention and injuries in the training environment along with routine police checks to provide diligence to the safety of our member participants.
