Dear Members and Martial Arts Enthusiasts,
We highly commend our athletes and members on the successes the past and look forward to the continued growth of our passion in Wushu. Milestones achieved include hosting the 2009 IWuF 10th World Wushu Championships in addition to:
-
hosting the first Ontario Provincial Wushu Championships in 2010;
-
hosting the 2010 Canadian National Wushu Championships & selection of the Jr National Team;
-
introducing the first sanctioned combative sanda structure in Canada;
-
introducing provincial wide grading and officiating structure;
-
redeveloping policy and procedure in accordance with governement sports requirements;
- introducing a volunteer recruitment and development program;
-
achieving a strong legacy in competition through equipment and
athlete development;
-
and of course achieving the majority of high performance results for the Canadian National Wushu Team which includes a first ever Senior Level World Championship Title by Ontario athlete Margherita Cina.
Looking forward to the future many improvements are on the horizon. The WushuOntario website will connect the enthusiasts of the sport and create a positive identity for our Ontario as a Provincial leader in wushu programming, development and excellence. Policies and procedures in addition to an elaborated set of association By-Laws will provide an efficient and effective standard in managing the organization for years to come. Furthermore, the steps taken by WushuOntario will ensure that a high level of resources and guidance will be directed towards our member clubs and overall WushuOntario participants.
